Update from NMA President Paul DuBois regarding NEAR-2010

The following is from Paul DuBois regarding the 2011 Northeast Area rally.

On the advice of the Cincinnati art department and staff, and because of input we have received from others, the NMA Executive Board has voted to change this year's rally theme to "Moonlight in Vermont."  It was thought that the previously suggested theme was much too close to our theme from just 2 years ago.

"Retarded" Grandparents (a little humor)

Written by a third grader , on what his grandparents do.

              After Christmas , a teacher asked her young pupils how they spent their holiday away from school. One child wrote the following:
              We always used to spend the holidays with Grandma and Grandpa.  They used to live in a big brick house, but Grandpa got retarded and they moved to Arizona.  Now they live in a tin box and have rocks painted green to look like grass.  They ride around on their bicycles, and wear name tags, because they don't know who they are anymore.  They go to a building called a wreck center, but they must have got it fixed because it is all okay now, they do exercises there, but they don't do them very well.  There is a swimming pool too, but they all jump up and down in it with hats on.  

At their gate, there is a doll house with a little old man sitting in it.  He watches all day so nobody can escape.  Sometimes they sneak out, and go cruising in their golf carts.  Nobody there cooks, they just eat out.  And, they eat the same thing every night - early birds. Some of the people can't get out past the man in the doll house.  The ones who do get out , bring food back to the wrecked center for pot luck.  My Grandma says that Grandpa worked all his life to earn his retardment and, says I should work hard so I can be retarded someday too.   When I earn my retardment, I want to be the man in the doll house.  Then I will let people out, so they can visit their grandchildren.

January 2011, NY Dinner Highlights

Folks who stay up north had a chance to get together at Tomaso's Restaurant in Waverly, NY. Thanks to SYLVIA PLAISTED for the following highlights:

Saturday, Jan 17, 2011 was as very cold day, in the lower 20's and windy, but we had 20 people attend. We all spend some time greeting one another. Pat Conner had a knee replacement 3 days after Christmas and is doing very well. She is having theropy at her home.

Bonnie Pollow had a knee replacement a few weeks before Christmas and is also doing very well. She just started driving this week. Pat and Bonnie had a few stories to share with each other. Larry and Howie are also doing well, taking care of them.

Charlie Kline did not attend the dinner as he had carple tunnel surgery last Thursday. He is doing well, but of course is having some pain. He will have the other hand done in about 4 weeks.

We all enjoyed a nice dinner . Our president Barbara Kotar welcomed everyone. George and Barb Cole are staying north this winter. Matt Miller stated he will be at our rallies this coming summer. John and Carla Couture said they have over a foot of snow at there home. Joe and Shirley are planning on going to Myrtle Beach in March, Madeline & Norm Pease are enjoying going out to eat as much as they can. We thank Larry and Barb Kotar for arranging the dinner. Ed is doing very good and busy as ever, I am in my quilting room most days. Pat Ott and her daughter Angie surprised us by stopping in at the last minute and joined us for lunch. Of course Pat showed us pictures of her new Grandaughter born on Jan 3

January 2011 dinners update

Even though we may be hibernating or traveling to hopefully warmer climates, there are chances to get together !

Next Saturday, January 15th is our annual winter "shut-in" get together.  This year it is at Tomasso's in Waverly, NY.  Hosts are Barb & Larry Kotar.

Social Hour:   1 p.m. - 2 p.m.
Lunch/Dinner: 2 p.m.

2012 FMCA International

FMCA has announced information regarding the 87th International Rally in 2012.

It will be held at the Indiana State Fairgrounds in Indianapolis July 2, 3, 4, 5, 2012.
